A horn with a curved cylinder cam progression was patented in 1940 by Friedrich Rösch for Siemens & Halske AG, Berlin. This advantageous horn shape is shorter than a conventional exponential horn, accommodating the needs of a theater space without having to select curved alternatives due to the small area behind a screen. The spherical horn has a desirably straight axis that yields resonance free radiance and guarantees a distinctive, natural sound. This horn shape has been integrated into the AUDIO FRAME model BERLIN due to years of extensive experience listening and testing different variants.

The BERLIN consists of three field coil bass/midrange drivers in an open baffle that work hand in hand with two compression drivers and spherical horns: A passive system. It's hard to put this listening experience into words. Maybe, though, I should use some new words that aren’t generally connected to this line of work: Peaceful, organic and powerful come to mind. Technical or aggressive is what this presentation was NOT, which was to be expected with very analytic loudspeakers. The BERLIN presents music as a whole, rather than just sounds. The music was just there, freed from the device, holographic and incredibly light. Even the smallest details developed for the listener without sounding too analytic. The performance had on top of that, a very sturdy base without the listener ever questioning whether the music was too soft, too harsh or if it could sound better than this. Yes, I do believe that peaceful, organic and powerful combined with a maximum of authenticity describe this speaker perfectly – a real highlight.
